Intra-uterine Microbiota of Dairy Cows and the Impact of Trace Minerals
نویسنده
چکیده
Postpartum uterine diseases are important for both animal welfare and economic reasons, contributing to cow discomfort, elimination from the herd, and impaired reproductive performance. Although presence of Escherichia coli and Truperella pyogenes has been more commonly associated with uterine inflammation and impaired reproductive performance (Studer and Morrow, 1978; Bonnett and Martin, 1995; Bicalho et al., 2010), other pathogenic bacteria, such as Fusobacterium necrophorum, Bacteroides spp., Pseudomonas spp., Staphylococcus spp., Prevotella melaninogenicus, and Streptococcus spp. have also been associated with uterine diseases (Williams et al., 2005; Azawi, 2008; Santos et al., 2011).

An investigation of the microbiota in uterine flush samples and endometrial biopsies from dairy cows during the first 7 weeks postpartum.
Metritis and endometritis commonly occur in dairy cows after calving. Although numerous studies have been performed to identify the causative pathogens, a complete overview has not been done. Metagenomic studies have analyzed the bacterial populations of uterine flush samples from postpartum (pp) dairy cows, but the microbiota in the uterine luminal fluid may differ from the microbiota of the e...
متن کاملInvestigation the Efficiency Ceftiofur Hydrochloride in Prevention of Uterine Postpartum Infections and Improvement the Fertility Parameters in Holstein Dairy Cows Affected by Retained Fetal Membrane and Dystocia
Objective: Ceftiofur, a third-generation cephalosporin, is used as a usual antimicrobial drug in veterinary medicine. Positive efficiency of ceftiofur for treatment of retained fetal membrane (RFM) and acute puerperal metritis has been previously reported. Thus, this study was conducted to evaluate the efficiency of ceftiofur hydrochloride (CH) in prevention of uterine postpart...
متن کاملStudy on the effect of left displacement of abomasum (LDA) on serum minerals and biochemical changes in dairy cows
Minerals and some biochemical parameters determined from blood serum analyses in left displacement abomasum (LDA) affected and healthy dairy cows to evaluate the effect of displacement abomasum on mineral status, energy metabolism and liver function. Samples were collected from 60 affected cows and 60 healthy control cows matched with cases, based on herd, parity, and stage of lactation. Concen...

متن کاملCharacterization of single nucleotide polymorphism in the 5'-untranslated region (5'-UTR) of Lactoferrin gene and its association with reproductive parameters and uterine infection in dairy cattle
Uterine infection is one of the reproductive diseases that can have disturbing postpartum uterine health in cattle. Therefore, identification of resistant genotypes to uterine infection is important. Lactoferrin (LF) is one of the major antimicrobial compounds in the normal uterine discharges of cows. We hypothesized that allelic diversity in LF gene may contribute to susceptibility or resistan...
